Our interns will work alongside industry professionals as they learn the ins and outs of running a show or teaching a class. We kicked off our internship program with our 2023 Summer Camp Production of Aristocats Kids and are excited to announce opportunities to work with our Triple Threat levels 1 & 2 and  our Spring Production class Jungle Book Kids.

Internships and Volunteer Positions

What:

Stage Center’s School of the Performing Arts has been providing skills based training to Shreveport/Bossier students for the past 10 years. As our program continues to grow and expand we are now offering internship and volunteer opportunites for students in High School. Our Triple Threat and Production classes provide students with a wealth of experience in everything it takes to become a great performer. Our new internship program will allow high school students to explore sharing their love of theater with younger students and peers in a new way. Our 2023/2024 school year will include internships for working with with Triple Threat levels 1 & 2 as well as a student choreographer internship for (Jungle Book Kids.) When:

Triple Threat Levels 1 & 2 meet for 12 weeks in the Fall and 12 weeks in the Spring form 9:00-10:30am starting August 19th.

Who:

We are looking for Interns and Class Volunteers

Triple Threat Interns: Interns will work directly with our triple threat class staff helping ensure student engagement and retention of materials taught. Interns will also help develop and teach one or more lessons in the skill they are most comfortable/interested in. Interns must be entering their junior year of high school or older and must have some experience working with children. (This experience could be anything from babysitting to volunteering as a tutor or at another camp—or maybe you have lots of younger siblings or cousins!) Interns must be able to commit to the entire 12 weeks of classes and will receive a 50% discount on their class tuition.

Triple Threat volunteers must be entering their Freshman year of high school or older and should have interest in working with children. Volunteers must commit to the entire 12 weeks of class and will assist with sign-in/sign out as well as classroom management/engagement. Volunteers will receive community hours for their Ame.

Student Choreographer Jungle Book Kids: Our Student Choreographer will report to our staff choreographer. Under the staff choreographer’s direction the intern will help create and teach choreography for our youngest group of students. Alongside your application, please submit a video of 4-6, 8 counts of original choreography to a Broadway song of your choice.

Volunteer: Bee Leader – Our bee leader will help our K-2nd grade bees learn their show track and help them during each show by escorting them from their dressing room to their entrances, and from their exits back to their dressing room. Volunteer must be available for all three shows and attend every rehearsal the bees are called to. Please see scene breakdown and schedule.

Spot Operators (2): Spot operators will join us for our final run through at the studio and attend all tech rehearsals as well as the three performances. Spot Ops will work directly under our Lighting Designer Sam to learn the ins and outs of spotting a show.

Assistant Stage Manager SR & Assistant Stage Manager SL: Our assistant stage managers will work directly under our stage manager to help ensure our backstage runs smoothly for each performance. ASM’s must attend our final run through at the studio as well as all tech rehearsals and all three performances.

Sound Operator: Our sound operator will help our Music Director to run all sound cues during the show. The Sound Operator must attend our final run through in the studio, as well as all tech rehearsals and all three performances.

 

Applications for Interns and Volunteers will be accepted until February 27th.  Production staff will make decisions and present Intern offers on or before February 29th.  Volunteer applications will be considered as they come in and spots will be filled as qualified applicants apply and may fill before the deadline
