Lean In Close and Watch Me Now.
Directed by guest artist Alex Hare (Resident director for Broadway’s School of Rock and Side Show), and starring our hometown hero (and history-maker for being the youngest black director to have a show play on Broadway) Zhailon Levingston, and Mikah Thomas (Harpo in last season’s The Color Purple) Topdog/Underdog, called “The greatest American play of the last 25 years” by The New York Times, is the recipient of the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 2023 Tony® Award for Best Revival of a Play.
A darkly comic fable of brotherly love and family identity, Topdog/Underdog tells the story of two brothers, Lincoln (Levingston) and Booth (Thomas), names given to them as a joke by their father. Haunted by the past and their obsession with the street con game, three-card monte, the brothers come to learn the true nature of their history.
